Peninsula Kidney Associates opened the Peninsula Vascular Access Center in 2007 to provide services that are specifically geared toward improving the delivery and coordination of vascular access care to area patients, especially those with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
End-Stage Renal Disease occurs when kidneys are no longer able to work at a level that is needed for day-to-day living, generally resulting in a patient’s need for intravenous (IV) antibiotic treatments, medications when a patient is not able to safely swallow pills, chemotherapy or other anti-cancer drugs, long-term IV nutrient administration and/or blood transfusions/dialysis.
A vascular access procedure is ideal for ESRD patients—and any patient needing treatment for chronic kidney disease, especially those who need repeated drawing of blood samples. It involves the insertion of a flexible and sterile thin plastic tube, or catheter, into a blood vessel to provide an effective method of drawing blood or delivering medications and nutrients into a patient’s bloodstream.
Vascular access is more comfortable and less stressful for patients who would otherwise need repeated needle sticks for various procedures related to the treatment of chronic kidney disease. The result of the procedure is improved patient outcomes and quality of life while helping physicians concentrate on proactive care and early intervention.
Since opening, the Peninsula Vascular Access Center has performed over 10,000 procedures with an overall success rate of 99.6%. In addition to vascular access placements, other procedures performed at the center include angiograms, angioplasty, thrombectomy, catheter placement, removal and exchange, vessel mapping for optimal access placement, fistula maturation and repair and Doppler sonography of dialysis access.
The Peninsula Vascular Access Center is accredited by The Joint Commission, which is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects their commitment to meeting high healthcare performance standards. It also establishes them as one of 75 facilities nationwide that provide vascular access procedures to chronic kidney disease patients.
Dr. Ayodeji and his staff have always provided me with professionalism and great customer service. Even in the midst of my accepting my situation, Dr. Ayodeji was the most understanding physician I have ever dealt with. He truly cares and understands. I appreciate him in many ways as a doctor.
There is a genuine concern with my medical care. Also the staff has always worked along with me in case of an emergency.
I’ve always liked (Peninsula Kidney Associates) and will continue to come. I feel relieved to know I have had the best of care.
I always leave with the satisfaction of feeling I had the best assessment of my condition and the best intervention. I would say I am a miracle with the treatment I receive.
For me , I would rather come here than any of my other physicians.
